CEBU City Health Officer Daisy Villa said on Sunday, April 19, 2020, the swab testing in sitio Zapatera, Barangay Luz will resume on Monday, April 20.

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, the Department of Health (DOH) recommended to stop the conduct of the massive swab testing since both ends of the sitio have recorded novel coronavirus infections.

However, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella denied the DOH recommendation on Friday, April 17.

The City Health Department had conducted 375 swab test in sitio Zapatera and 135 of which tested positive of the virus.

The first Covid-19 patient from Zapatera is admitted at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

Villa said the disinfection procedures will be done once all those infected with the virus will be transferred to isolation centers.

Of the 136 patients from Zapatera, one is admitted at VSMMC, five are at Cebu City Medical Center and 130 are in home quarantine.

Villa said 13 symptomatic patients will be prioritized for transfer at the Bayanihan Cebu Center at the old campus of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Gen. Maxilom Ave.

Those who are asymptomic, Villa said, will stay at Barrio Luz National High School. (JJL)
