Tabok fire survivors get aid from Mandaue City

SOME 137 families who were affected by last Tuesday’s fire in Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City were provided with in-kind assistance by the Mandaue City Government yesterday morning.

The City Social Welfare and Services (CSWS) Office led by Mayor Luigi Quisumbing and Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna distributed starter kits to the fire survivors of Upper Tabok at the barangay’s multipurpose hall.

Jessie Perez, head of CSWS, said the starter kit, which is worth P2,000 each, includes 10 kilos of rice, plates, a pail, and pots.

Based on the data provided by the CSWS, the fire affected 27 homeowners and 110 tenants.

A total of 504 individuals are temporarily staying in the Tabok National High School.

Perez said house owners will receive P10,000 as financial assistance from the City, while renters will receive P5,000.

He said they are processing requirements before they can release the cash aid.

The CSWS distributed blankets and mats to the affected residents right after the incident.

Perez added they also provided them with hygiene kits the following day.
