A RESOLUTION has been filed before the Talisay City Council calling on all schools in the city to install surveillance cameras in their premises.

Author Councilor Eduardo “Digul” Gullas, chairman of the committee on education, said his aim is to protect students inside and outside the schools.

That way, students can focus on their studies and their parents don’t have to worry about their security, he said.

Gullas said he has already coordinated with the heads of other committees like the committee on peace and order to get the matter off the ground.

Meanwhile, the councilor said he filed another resolution requiring the placement of tracking chips on the students’ IDs so their parents will always know where they are.

“A chip will be placed in the ID or something that will inform parents if their children are inside the school or outside,” Gullas said in a mix of Cebuano and English.

However, he admitted that he still has to find a way to do this.

He said he came up with the idea after reports of kidnapping went viral on social media in August. (BBT, PJB)
