A TEENAGER was swept away by the strong current and drowned Friday afternoon, June 8, in the seawaters off Carcar City, Cebu.

Josue Sebial, 17, was "found dead" by rescuers from the Carcar City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, according to city information officer Candice Sandiego Acuña.

His cousin, 23-year-old Jherick Basay, was rescued.

Basay related how his cousin suddenly disappeared.

In his Facebook post, Napoleon Retubado Jr. said the cousins went fishing in the waters off Bantayan, Tuyom in Carcar City at about 2 p.m. Friday.

They later decided to go for a swim.

Rescuers attempted to revive Sebial and later brought him to the hospital.
