A MIX-UP over a listing of participants’ names led to an exchange of words between members of the Kapa-Community Ministry International Inc. (Kapa) and another group holding a meeting at the same venue at the Plaza Independencia Friday, June 21, 2019.

The short commotion ended with a clarification about the listing of participants’ names by the Unified Security Group (USG).

Some Kapa members wanted their names included in the USG paper, thinking it was a Kapa list for payouts to members. Sammy Dasoc, USG head, said there was a misunderstanding as the list was for the attendance of new USG members but some Kapa members thought it was for their own group.

The tension ended when both USG and Kapa agreed to burn the list.

“We conduct regular weekly meetings here at the Plaza (Independencia). That list we just burned was the attendance we made of our new members. We do not have any intention of doing what they are accusing us,” he said.

The USG is a group of security personnel in Cebu City.

According to Dasoc, before the commotion happened, a woman approached and asked them to add her to the attendance sheet. Another Kapa member, he said, saw it and then accused them of listing Kapa members. Dasoc said he did not know that the woman was a Kapa member.

On the other hand, Renee Magdadaro, Kapa member who joined the prayer rally and who asked the group of Dasoc to stop the listing, said they were just being cautious. “I acted only based on the report I received. One member told me that the listing was for the payouts,” she said.

Around 500 members from all over Cebu joined the prayer rally. This was the second of a two-day nationwide prayer rally to seek President Rodrigo Duterte’s intervention and allow Kapa to continue operations after it was ordered closed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. (WBS)
