‘Thief’ found dead in Talisay City

A 20-YEAR-OLD suspected thief was found dead around 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, in a bushy area in Sitio Cabutoy, Barangay Pooc, Talisay City, Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Matchiek Basnillo Perez.

An hour before he was found lifeless, Perez, known as Insik to friends, was inside the house of Romeo Pardillo Tagsip, a painter.

Police said when Perez saw the presence of Tagsip's nephew, Mark Jhapet Arcenas, he punched the glass window, but he failed to break it. He sustained injuries on the right arm.

Police said Perez ran outside the house through the main door. He went straight to the bush near the perimeter of a subdivision.

Some residents of Cabutoy discovered Perez's dead body, about two kilometers from Tagsip's house.

A medical team who examined his body concluded that the deep wound caused massive blood loss.

Police recovered a cell phone, a bluetooth speaker and disposable lighter from his possession. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
