AT LEAST four classrooms of Langtad Elementary School in Barangay Langtad, Argao town, Cebu were stripped of the things inside them by still unidentified thieves.

Marivic Montejo, school principal, said thieves had been attacking the school since August.

She said the first incident happened in August and involved a classroom for Grade 4 students, where a flat screen television was taken by the perpetrators.

The second incident involved a classroom for Grade 6 students. This time, the thieves took cash, a lipstick, perfume, chocolates and tools that were kept by the teacher inside.

The latest incident was discovered around 7 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2023, after the school personnel found two Grade 5 classrooms with broken window grills.

The thieves carted away biscuits. An automatic tubig machine was also found broken.

The thieves gained entry into the classrooms by breaking the window grills and removing the jalousies.

Montejo believes that the thieves might be using children as accomplices as only children can fit into the broken window.

She said the incident has already been reported to police.

Montejo said that she met with parents and teachers on October 7 to talk about the series of attacks at the school, and they are planning to put up closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras to possibly catch and identify the thieves.

She said they might also hire a security guard and ask the help of the police who can conduct a mobile patrol in the area. (DVG/LMY)
