FOUR hours after shooting his own brother dead, businessman Roy Vincent Gopuco, 44, surrendered to authorities accompanied by his lawyer.
Inspector Lilibeth Arce, chief of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the case is now closed.
"Nakadispalko ang suspect ug kwarta sa ilang family business maong pag-away nila, napusilan niya iyang manghud (The suspect allegedly embezzled money from the family business and this prompted a heated quarrel and he shot his younger brother)," Arce told reporters.
In a report by SunStar SuperBalita, Roy Vincent has managed their family business for some time now but his father noticed that it has been losing.
Their father decided to replace Roy Vincent through his younger brother Cris, who discovered the large amount that was misused.
Cris's discovery apparently prompted the quarrel between the siblings.
Cris, 40, succumbed to three gunshot wounds, two on his back and one on his head.
Arce said that Roy Vincent submitted himself at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, with his legal counsel, lawyer Joan Largo, to the police.
CCPO Director, Senior Superintendent Joel Doria, said that Roy Vincent reportedly went "blank" in the midst of the fight between him and his brother.
"Yung statement niya kagabi, ang sabi niya ay na-blangko siya," Doria said. (JOB/SunStar Cebu/SuperBalita Cebu)
