THE Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) is planning to take legal steps against individuals who produce and sell fake real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) results that carry VSMMC’s logo.

“We would like to state that we do not condone such activities. We are dismayed by these unscrupulous acts conducted by these individuals, which has tarnished the hard-earned reputation of VSMMC’s Subnational Laboratory,” said VSMMC Chief Dr. Gerardo Aquino in an official statement released on Friday, March 19, 2021.

On Thursday, March 18, 2021, a news report came out describing the entrapment operation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 against individuals engaged in the production and sale of fake RT-PCR results.

“The said report alarmed the management as the fake test results bear the logo of VSMMC. Totally unacceptable,” said Aquino.

Aquino said that the hospital will be coordinating with and assisting NBI 7 in expediting the case against the individuals arrested in the entrapment operation.

The VSMMC is also reminding the public to remain vigilant and to report any illegal activities that could harm the hospital’s name through its Facebook page, email, or any proper authorities.

“We would like to reiterate that we should put a stop in the propagation of these activities by not patronizing these individuals and be tested only in accredited coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) laboratories,” Aquino said. (NRC/With PR, WBS)
