A VILLAGE official was caught on Tuesday morning, June 12, for owning unlicensed firearms and explosive in Sitio Batuan, Barangay Luca, Balamban, Cebu.
Senior Inspector Deni Mari Pedrozo, the town police chief, identified the suspect as Diosdado Manigos Atis, a councilor of Barangay Matun-og, Balamban.
Atis yielded a Colt .45 pistol, with no serial number, and its chamber loaded with five bullets.
A hand grenade and a .22 air gun rifle were also confiscated from the suspect, who was reported to the police station for indiscriminate firing.
Pedrozo said Atis often brandished his gun when he was drunk.
The operation was authorized by a search warrant issued by Toledo City Regional Trial Court Branch 29 Judge Ruben Altubar.
Atis will be facing complaints for illegal possession of firearms and explosive. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
