A PREGNANT woman caused the residents of Barangay Naalad in Naga City, southern Cebu to panic after she revealed that she was molested by a witch on the night of June 21, 2023.

Lyn Gonzaga, 43, who was two months pregnant, showed a lot of nail marks on her belly believed to be from a witch, locally known as “ungo.”

After that, she immediately went for an ultrasound but she was shocked that only the placenta (locally known as inunlan) remained, while the fetus was gone.

The story gained widespread attention on social media and generated different reactions from online users.

Some claimed that Gonzaga had experienced a miscarriage, others remarked that witches are real, while others did not believe in them.

Police Major Mariegin Encio, information officer of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO), said the Naga City Police Office has not received a report about the incident but was ordered by the CPPO to launch an investigation to validate the reports.

“From Wednesday until gahapon, walay na receive nga information ang Naga City Police Station so since karon nga naa may nag viral so mao to giadtoan nila,” Encio said.

Encio acknowledged that the story is difficult to believe, but that further investigation is required to see whether Gonzaga's claim is true.

In line with this, the police urged the public not to post on social media anything that could cause panic among the people, but instead report the matter to the police so it can be given immediate attention. (AYB/TPT)
