A 62-YEAR-OLD woman died after the motorcycle she was riding in crashed along the national highway in Sitio Try, Barangay Tubigagmanok, Asturias town, midwest Cebu on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2022.

Anecita Peliotas, of Sitio Santol, Barangay Lanao, Asturias, did not reach the hospital alive.

SSgt. Roland Duran told SunStar Cebu that the victim and his sister were on board a motorcycle driven by their nephew Joron Peliotas, 30, and were heading toward home, when Joron overtook a delivery van around 5:40 p.m. Thursday.

But as he tried to go back to his lane, Joron was reportedly sideswiped by another motorcycle from the opposite direction that was driven by 15-year-old boy Wisly Lauro Napoles, causing the former to lose control and crash.

The four individuals involved in the accident were brought to the Adlawan Infirmary Clinic for treatment but Peliotas was declared dead on arrival.

Peliotas reportedly landed on a tree without any bruises but had a scratch on her forehead.

Police believed that the victim died of internal hemorrhage as there was no blood seen on her head.

Based on their investigation, police found out that Joron was the one at fault as he overtook another vehicle without ensuring that the road ahead was clear.

Duran said that later, around 7 p.m., the families of both parties agreed to amicably settle the case.

The parents of the 15-year-old boy promised to give financial assistance to the affected family and shoulder the burial expenses for the victim. (GDC / TPT )
