A 24-YEAR-OLD woman was shot and killed in Sitio Alumnus Asophuwa, Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City past noon on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Police identified the victim was Jan Niña delos Santos Lacumba, a resident of the said place.

According to some witnesses, the victim was seated on a bench outside their house when the gunman arrived and shot her in the head.

The assailant immediately fled to unknown direction.

According to Police Major Jonathan Beethoven Taneo, chief of the Mambaling Police Station, they already have two persons of interest in the crime.

Taneo said one of the perpetrators was reportedly observing the area before the incident.

After a short while, the shooter arrived and shot the victim in the head without any provocation.

According to one of their informants, the victim may have been mistaken for a police asset, according to Taneo.

"Gahapon daw sir siya ang gipasanginlan nga nagtudlo sa pulis nga naay gidakop diha nga drug personality, pero sa among imbestigasyon wala may operation ang police diha, so siya ang gidudahan nga tig report sa police," Taneo said.

(Yesterday, she was accused as the one who reported to the police that led to the arrest of a drug personality there, but in our investigation, there was no police operation).

She was charged with making a police report on Monday, which led to the arrest of a drug dealer there, but over the course of our research, there was no police operation.

The police are still trying to determine the real motive of the incident.(With TPT)
