CEBU and other parts of Visayas, Mindanao, and Luzon should brace for rain as a low-pressure area (LPA) moves across the country, according to Pagasa’s Saturday, May 3, 2025, weather forecast.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Visayas weather specialist Manny John Agbay said in a phone interview that the LPA is expected to bring rain to Cebu, Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Luzon.
However, Agbay said the LPA is forecasted to dissipate and move toward Palawan by Sunday, May 4, bringing fair weather back to Cebu and the rest of Central Visayas. Hot temperatures are expected to return next week.
As of 2 p.m. Saturday, Pagasa’s latest forecast indicated that the LPA, which is currently being tracked within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), has a low likelihood of developing into a Tropical Depression in the next 24 hours.
On Thursday, May 1, Pagasa reported the LPA was located 515 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. The LPA and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) brought cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to parts of Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
Pagasa had declared the start of the dry season on March 26, 2025. / CDF
