IN A bid to promote road safety and enforce proper vehicle documentation, the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) has intensified its roadside operations across the region to apprehend motor vehicles that are unregistered, defective, or improperly plated.
In a memorandum dated June 16, 2025, the agency directed all enforcement units to apprehend vehicles that are unregistered, have expired registrations, or possess defective parts, or are deemed unfit and unsafe to operate on public roads.
LTO 7 is also cracking down on vehicles with unauthorized, obscured, or improperly attached license plates. A May 2 memorandum outlines this effort to ensure efficient vehicle identification and registration.
Motorists must properly attach their license plates. Plates should be securely fastened, clean, and clearly visible at all times. Motor vehicles need one plate at the front and one at the rear. Motorcycles require a rear plate.
Violators may face fines up to P5,000 for failing to attach, improperly attaching, or tampering with authorized motor vehicle plates.
LTO 7 asks for public cooperation to help ensure road safety and order. (DPC)
