THE Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) has summoned a modern public utility jeepney (MPUJ) driver following a reckless driving incident captured on video by a Cebu-based media personality.
Both the driver and operator of the MPUJ operating on route 01K have been issued show cause orders, requiring them to personally appear and submit written explanations to the LTO 7 Operations Division.
LTO 7 Director Glen Galario acted swiftly upon receiving the video footage from the local media outlet.
"The incident occurred at the intersection of Colon Street and Mabini Street, where the video clearly shows the modern jeepney recklessly counterflowing through the junction," said Galario.
He added that upon viewing the video, he immediately instructed his Operations Division chief to issue the show cause order.
According to registration records, the modern PUJ is registered under a Cebu City-based corporation.
"Due to the gravity and severity of the violation, please be informed that your driver's license and/or motor vehicle registration will be temporarily placed under alarm, preventing any and all transactions while the case is under investigation," stated the show cause order issued on Friday, June 27, 2025.
The driver faces charges under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136, also known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of the Philippines, for reckless driving. (PR)
