THE Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) has preventively suspended for 90 days the driver’s license of a motorist involved in a viral road altercation with another motorcycle rider.
The suspension was imposed after a video circulated on Facebook on Aug. 18, 2026, showing an alleged physical confrontation between the two riders after their motorcycles stopped in the middle of the road.
The footage also captured what appeared to be a verbal threat during the confrontation.
Following the circulation of the video, LTO 7 issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) directing the concerned driver to appear before the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit under the Operations Division.
“The foregoing conduct, committed while operating and using a motor vehicle on a public road, raises serious questions regarding your temperament, judgment, self-control, and fitness to operate a motor vehicle,” reads a portion of the SCO.
LTO 7 said aggressive and violent conduct on public roads puts not only those involved in confrontations at risk but also other motorists, passengers, pedestrians and the general public.
The driver was ordered to submit a verified explanation and supporting evidence within five days from receipt of the order.
Pending the investigation, LTO 7 directed the driver to surrender his license and imposed a 90-day preventive suspension, without prejudice to the final determination of administrative liability after due investigation and hearing.
The agency stressed that its action remains administrative in nature, with the final determination of liability to depend on the outcome of the investigation and proceedings. / DPC
