A SINULOG contingent drummer and another person were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Mambaling Police Station at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Sitio Alumnos, Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City.

The suspects were identified as Arnold Tang Villamor, alias Biato, 38, the primary target of the operation, from Sitio Panagsama, Barangay Basak San Nicolas, and his companion, Victor “Vic-vic” Bohol Quijano, 45, a drummer for the drum and bugle corps of the Lumad Basakanon and resident of Sitio Caimito, Barangay Basak San Nicolas.

Authorities seized nine packs of substance believed to be shabu weighing 0.30 grams with an estimated street value of P2,040.

The Mambaling Police Station said they had monitored the suspects' involvement in the illegal drug trade, prompting the operation.

However, Quijano denied selling illegal drugs, saying he only used them to boost his energy and focus, especially during their Sinulog dance practices.

He admitted to regularly using shabu, claiming it helped him stay alert and active during their rehearsals.

Quijano, a former employee of Barangay Basak San Nicolas, acknowledged that he had been using illegal drugs for some time.

Cases for violations of Section 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 916 will be filed by Mambaling Police Station against the two suspects. (AYB)
