A HUSBAND who works as a construction worker went on a rampage and attempted to hold his wife hostage inside their home in Purok 5, Barangay Cambitoon, Inabanga town, Bohol around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

This happened after he wanted his wife to quit her job as a house helper for a family.

He was, however, arrested by responding police officers.

The suspect was identified as alias Gino, 55, a construction worker, while his wife, the one he attempted to hold hostage, was identified as alias Mirasol, 45.

According to information from the Inabanga Police Station, they received a call from the barangay captain of Cambitoon reporting a man holding his wife hostage.

Police, led by Police Captain Albert Sator, responded quickly to verify the report.

When they arrived, they saw the suspect holding a sharp bolo knife. When they tried to talk him down and convince him to surrender the weapon, he instead became more aggressive.

He released his wife but instead of surrendering, he slashed his own head, causing injury.

He was immediately brought to Dagohoy Memorial Hospital in Barangay Cagayan, Inabanga, for treatment. After receiving medical attention, he was brought to the police station.

Investigation revealed that the suspect wanted his wife to stop working as a babysitter and let him be the sole provider. However, the wife reportedly refused since his income as a construction worker was not enough, triggering the suspect's outburst.

He took a newly sharpened bolo and went on a rampage, terrifying his wife and prompting her to seek help from neighbors.

The suspect will face charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, or alarm and scandal. (AYB)
