MATTEO Manassero and Ryan Fox each fired impressive 6-under 64s on Saturday, June 7, 2025, to finish tied atop the leaderboard after three rounds at the RBC Canadian Open, the final tune-up before next week’s US Open at Oakmont.
Manassero, looking for his first PGA Tour title, bounced back from a frustrating moment late in his round — a three-putt bogey on the par-4 17th — by sticking a brilliant 80-yard approach to just two feet on the par-5 18th and converting the birdie to reach 14-under 196.
“I missed the short one on 17, and I did miss a couple more short ones today,” Manassero said. “I try to think of them just like a shot really, like a driver, like a 6-iron, whatever. It’s just a shot. So I don’t want it to get in my head, and I don’t want that to ruin anything or my attitude going towards the next shots.”
The 32-year-old Italian owns eight international victories, but a PGA Tour title still eludes him. He’ll head into Sunday with a golden opportunity to change that.
Fox, who broke through for his maiden PGA Tour win last month at the Myrtle Beach Classic, also birdied the 18th to cap his 64 and join Manassero at the top. The 38-year-old Kiwi is carrying plenty of momentum and confidence as he eyes back-to-back titles.
Right behind the leaders are Lee Hodges, Kevin Yu, and Matt McCarty, each just one shot off the pace. Hodges and Yu both turned in sizzling 7-under 63s, while McCarty matched the leaders with a 64 of his own.
Local favorite Mackenzie Hughes gave Canadian fans something to cheer about, carding a 64 to move to 12 under, where he’s tied with Jake Knapp (66) and Andrew Putnam (68). / RSC
