THE Mandaue City Government has officially turned over a newly renovated comfort room (CR) to the City Health Office after personnel from the Department of General Services (DGS) experienced the poor state of the old restroom during a routine visit.
The renovation was prompted by a firsthand experience of DGS head Marivic Cabigas and her staff during a visit to the City Health Office, and found out that the facility’s comfort room is in such disrepair that it was nearly unusable.
Cabigas said the incident was an eye-opener, prompting her office to take immediate action to improve the facility.
The old CR had broken or missing doors, stained walls, poor ventilation, and emitted a strong foul odor.
It was also too small to accommodate the daily volume of patients and staff using it.
The newly renovated CR has separate, more spacious facilities for men and women. It also features new fixtures, handwashing areas, and improved ventilation.
The construction began on February 2025 and finished this month.
