
WELJOHN Mindoro showed off his devastating knockout power as he quickly disposed of Mexican Omar Gutierrez in the opening round of their fight on June 7, 2025, at the Boeing Center of Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, US.
The 25-year-old Mindoro, nicknamed the “Triggerman”, targeted the body of Gutierrez, landing a beautiful right hook to the body. He followed it up with a left hook to the body. Mindoro threw a jab and as Gutierrez ducked, he threw a vicious right hook to the jaw that dropped the Mexican.
Gutierrez failed to beat the referee’s 10-count and the fight was declared a knockout victory for Mindoro in the 1:28 mark of the first round.
Mindoro continued his unbeaten run and improved to 14-0-1 with 14 knockouts, while Gutierrez suffered his first career loss and dropped to 8-1-1 with six knockouts.
Mindoro won his third straight fight in American soil since moving to the US in 2023. He won his first two fights in the US by knocking out Tyler Goodjohn in two rounds and Lucas de Abreu in three.
Mindoro is based in Las Vegas and is training alongside Pinoy fighters Mark Magsayo, Eumir Marcial, Jerwin Ancajas, Jonas Sultan and Carl Jammes Martin. / EKA
