A 77-YEAR-OLD woman who had earlier been reported missing was found dead, floating in a septic tank inside a subdivision in Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla.
The woman was identified by her children and relatives as Glenda Petallana Angel, a resident of the same barangay.
According to the investigation by the Minglanilla Municipal Police Station, Angel had Alzheimer’s disease and went missing from their home at around 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. She was last seen by residents of Barangay Tungkil at around 4 a.m. while she was walking.
A resident of the subdivision discovered Angel’s body floating in the septic tank after noticing that its cover had collapsed.
Residents of the subdivision told police they heard dogs barking loudly and a thudding sound early Monday morning. However, when they checked the area, they found nothing and did not suspect that someone had fallen into the septic tank.
Investigators found no signs of foul play. Their initial assessment was that Angel may have slipped and accidentally fallen into the septic tank.
Nevertheless, police are continuing to review security camera footage from the area to determine exactly what happened.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operation have completed processing the scene and the victim’s body. The Minglanilla Police Station is awaiting the results of the autopsy. / AYB
