A MOTORCYCLE passenger died while the driver was injured after their motorcycle collided with a trailer truck on D.M. Cortes-A.C. Cortes Street in Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City, Tuesday afternoon, July 15, 2025.
The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) Traffic Enforcement Unit described the incident as reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
Authorities identified the truck driver as Teodie Punay Ycot, 36, of Tabok, Mandaue City.
Roy Bontilao Borces, 34, a logistics worker from Purok 2, San Jose, Cebu City, drove the motorcycle. His passenger was Gechile Lucion Beltran, 26, also from San Jose, Cebu City.
Initial investigation showed the truck was traveling north on D.M. Cortes Street in the inner lane. It collided with the motorcycle as the motorcycle maneuvered to turn right toward a nearby hardware store.
The impact threw both the motorcycle driver and passenger onto the road. The motorcycle sustained damage, and the truck's front was also damaged.
Responders rushed Beltran to Mandaue City Hospital, but a physician declared her dead on arrival.
Mandaue City Police are investigating the case. (CAV)
