
CEBU-BASED sustainable manufacturer Nature’s Legacy Eximport Inc. has achieved international recognition as its flagship innovation, Naturescast, was named a finalist in the New Materials category at the 2025 Green Product Awards held on May 15, 2025, in Berlin, the Philippine Embassy in Germany announced on its Facebook page.
Naturescast is an eco-friendly material crafted from upcycled agro-forest debris bound by a proprietary water-based binder, making it fully biodegradable and recyclable. The material is utilized in a wide range of applications, including home décor, furniture and architectural elements, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional materials.
The Green Product Award is an international competition that honors products and services demonstrating excellence in design, innovation and sustainability. In 2025, the award received over 1,500 submissions from 50 countries, with only five finalists selected per category.
Aside from the new materials category, the other categories were architecture, building design, consumer goods, fashion, initiatives, interior and lifestyle, kids, kitchen, mobility, packaging, personal care, sport and workspace.
While Naturescast did not secure the top prize, it was included in the Green Product Award’s “Top 100 Products for a More Sustainable Life,” highlighting its contribution to sustainable innovation.
Nature’s Legacy, led by founders Pedro and Catherine Delantar, is the first B Corp-certified manufacturing company in the Philippines, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental performance, accountability
and transparency.
“We really wanted the Philippine-made products to be noticed, sold, patronized and appreciated here and abroad,” said Pedro, one of the founders.
“In today’s competitive times and climate change vulnerability, we should look for products that utilize recycled/ upcycled materials with less carbon emissions and footprint. Naturescast is the answer,” he said.
Nature’s Legacy exports home decor and housewares to Europe, such as in Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy and the United Kingdom; in the US—in New York and California; and in Japan—Tokyo and Osaka; and
the Philippines.
This latest recognition adds to Naturescast®’s accolades, including the Gold Invention Award at the 2015 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions and a Cradle to Cradle certification in 2019, underscoring its role in advancing sustainable material innovation. / KOC
