INCOMING Cebu City Councilor Harold Kendrick Go has expressed support for the plans of newly elected mayor Nestor Archival to make vital City Hall services 24/7.

Go, a member of Kusug Party, believes that even if he does not belong to the new administration party, Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), his political affiliation will not hinder his work.

“My priority is we will put on top the welfare of the Cebuanos,” Go said in a mix of Cebuano and English when asked in an interview if working with the elected mayor would be difficult.

Go is set to attend the Kusug Party’s oath-taking ceremony on June 28, 2025.

As a neophyte councilor, Go views his newness in the council as an advantage as he will bring in “fresh ideas.”

“At least, we have fresh ideas. We have the veteran politicians who are there in the council and I also look up to them for advice and mentorship; and at the same time I can contribute my new ideas that would be good for the city,” he said.

Go, a licensed architect, expressed keen interest in heading the committees on business and trade, as well as infrastructure.

He is also setting his sights on “Kabuhayan” projects focusing on livelihood, entrepreneurship and business.

The incoming Cebu City Council will be fairly divided among the three major local political parties with six councilors coming from Partido Barug, six from Kusug and six from BOPK.

Go said he has not yet considered forming political alliances adding that there have been no discussions with outgoing Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia regarding such matters.

Go urged the public to cooperate with the incoming Archival-Osmeña administration.

He said the 24/7 “Mayor of the Night” initiative of the incoming administration would be a good idea such as in cases where special permits are needed and emergencies arise during weekends. / JPS
