The 17th addition to the fleet of Cokaliong Shipping Lines (CSL) is the brand new mv Filipinas Bohol. Modern, streamlined and sturdy, the ship was made in China to the specifications of the forward-looking and meticulous CSL founder/chief executive officer/chief operating officer Chester Cokaliong. It is set for the Cebu-Bohol route.
Inauguration day was a festive affair with Msgr. Roberto Alesna blessing the ship. Guests of honor included House Representatives Eduardo Rama of Cebu City’s 2nd District, Karen Garcia of Cebu Province’s 3rd District and Duke Frasco of the 5th District; Consul General Zhang Zhen of the People’s Republic of China; and Bohol Gov. Eric Aumentado who couldn’t make it because of a canceled flight.
They all expressed admiration for the leadership of man-at-the-helm Chester C. whose vision and dedication towards the shipping industry have brought about public trust, regional progress and inter-island connectivity. On the other hand PRC Consul General Zhang Zhen stated that the China-made ship speaks of Philippine-China cooperation symbolizing shared economic goals. Meanwhile Marina 7 Director Annabel Lagas praised CSL for meeting international standards in maritime safety and sustainability.
For his part, CSL founder/chief executive officer/chief operating officer Chester Cokaliong declared that “building a brand new ship is not for the faint of heart.” He proudly shared that he is about six to seven years ahead of the other shipping lines in taking the lead. He ended his remarks expressing gratitude to all the supporters of CSL and then added, “Mv Filipinas Bohol is more than just a ship; it’s a symbol of our ongoing mission to serve the Filipino people with quality, safety and pride.”
