
CEBU City councilors are looking forward to fulfilling their promises to the Cebuanos upon assuming office this June 30, 2025.
In an interview with SunStar, South District Cebu City Councilors Michelle Abella and Jose Lorenzo Abellanosa said they feel excited to serve the people and fulfill their campaign promises.
Abella specifically aims to fulfill her campaign promise of mental wellness across the 80 barangays in Cebu City.
“This will be to all the families, to women (and) the LGBTQ. All of us in the city of 80 barangays jud. It's really more of the mental wellness for everyone,” she said.
She added that she already established support for her campaign through reaching an agreement from all sectors, specifically by talking to community extension services heads from all academic institutions, psychologists, parish councilors and representatives of guidance counselors.
She said she will give her all out support to the projects of Mayor-elect Nestor Archival for the betterment of the Cebuanos.
“All out support for the good of Cebuanos. Tanan project sa mayor, suportaan jud,” she said.
Councilor Abellanosa also expressed support for Archival and Vice Mayor-elect Tomas Osmeña. He said he aims to raise financial assistance among the senior citizens.
He said he also aims to fight for the youth, solo parents and persons with disability (PWD).
Abellanosa stressed that the new administration will listen more to the voices of the people, who are more aware of what is lacking in the city.
“We will listen more gyud sa mga taw. Kay through them, we will know unsay kuwang atung city,” he said while urging the Cebuanos to continue supporting the Cebu City Government.
Meanwhile, North District Councilor Nyza “Nice” Archival said that she seeks to empower the youth and the people in Cebu City.
She said she will work to amend former councilor Raul Alcoseba’s ordinance, supplying school supplies from elementary level to high school.
She said age is not a barrier and the youth is capable of many things.
“Never underestimate the power of the youth that we have the stance in the City Council and dili siya barrier ang age gap nga tungod lang batan-on mi, we cannot do a lot of things,” she said.
She also said that she wants to join the Education Scholarship, Disaster, Tourism Committee, while Abellanosa is looking at joining the Social Services Markets committee.
Abella said she will make the most out of the committee given to her.
