TRANSMISSION wheeling rates, or the fees collected by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) for delivering electricity, decreased by 0.27% in the May 2025 billing period. However, rates for Ancillary Services (AS) rose by 9.29%.

From PhP0.4605/kWh in April, transmission wheeling rates dropped to PhP0.4593/kWh, reflecting a decrease of PhP0.0012/kWh.

Meanwhile, Ancillary Services rates increased from PhP0.5175/kWh in April to PhP0.5655/kWh in May, an increase of PhP0.0480/kWh.

“As a pass-through cost, AS rates are only collected by NGCP and remitted directly to generation companies,” NGCP clarified.

Ancillary Services—support services used to balance and stabilize the grid during supply-demand imbalances—are sourced either from the AS reserve market or from providers with bilateral contracts with NGCP.

The overall average transmission rate for the May 2025 billing period, as reflected in end consumers’ June 2025 electricity bills, stands at PhP1.1482/kWh, up by 4.60% from April’s PhP1.0978/kWh. (PR)
