
AS THE 2025 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet approaches its final days, the Cebu City Niños are making a strong push to overtake Bohol Province in the medal standings.
With 25 golds, 28 silvers, and 25 bronzes, Cebu City athletes are closing the gap on Bohol, which currently leads with 33 golds, 21 silvers, and 19 bronzes.
However, names of medal winners from Cebu City and events in which the Niños earned medals were not available as of press time Friday, March 14.
Meanwhile, the most dominant performance of the day came from Cebu City’s elementary baseball team, who overpowered Talisay City 12-0 to advance to the semifinals.
The team’s ace pitcher, James Andrew Lim, struck out every batter from Talisay, while Christian Milla’s two home runs further solidified the Niños’ commanding lead.
In the elementary boys lawn tennis, Cebu City’s Val Ian Gairanod delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Bogo Division 7-1.
Laurence Jey Torrefiel and David Garbo also dominated their doubles match against Dumaguete with a convincing 21-10, 21-8 victory.
Their aggressive play and flawless coordination have placed them in excellent form as they prepare for tougher competition ahead.
In football, the Cebu City Niños continued to impress as they humbled Toledo City 5-0 victory to remain undefeated after three games in the elementary boys’ first round.
The win earned the Niños the top spot in their group and a quarterfinals berth.
Cebu City’s secondary boys football team advanced to the quarterfinals as well after escaping with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the host team Bayawan City.
Both teams are now looking forward to the next round with high hopes for further success.
Cebu City table tennis athlete Jin Migraso hurdled both his opening matches in the Singles B competition.
Migraso defeated his opponent from Tanjay 2-0 and edged out his Negros Oriental Province rival 2-1.
