A “NEW ERA” has been promised for Mandaue City by One Mandaue, led by Congresswoman Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon and Provincial Board Member (PB) Thadeo "Jonkie" Ouano.
During a proclamation rally on the night of Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the open space near the Mandaue City Cultural Sports Complex, over 20,000 supporters gathered to hear their vision for the city’s future.
Jonkie, who is running for mayor, emphasized the need to improve healthcare services by constructing a larger and more modern Mandaue City Hospital.
He pointed out that under his late father, former Mayor Thadeo “Teddy” Ouano, the hospital operated as a Level 2 facility but has since deteriorated into what now resembles a health center.
The proposed 257-bed facility, designed in collaboration with the chief of hospital at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, aims to ease the burden on residents who currently rely on expensive private hospitals.
Beyond healthcare, Jonkie also highlighted plans to build a new facility for Mandaue City College, address the city’s ongoing flooding problems, continue the installation of solar streetlights, and construct a sports center for athletes and youth.
His running mate, Vice Mayor Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, committed to increasing financial assistance for senior citizens from P10,000 to P12,000.
Meanwhile, reelectionist Congresswoman Lolypop vowed to continue her programs for Mandaue’s development, stressing the importance of unity between the city government and Congress.
The One Mandaue slate includes Atty. Nilo "Olin" Seno for Provincial Board Member and city councilor candidates Atty. Joel Seno, Anjong Ouano-Icalina, Ting Sol Cabahug, Fritz Villamor, Ben Basiga, Procopio Villanueva, Dario Tariman, Asterio Bubbles Suson, Romulo “Tingy” Echavez, Eping Diano, Greg Yap, and Eugene Andaya.
The proclamation rally was attended by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Senator Bong Revilla, and representatives from Tingog Partylist.
Celebrities Gerald Anderson, Sheryn Regis, Super Tekla, and Donita Nose were also present. (CAV)
