Let us put ourselves in the presence of the Lord.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for gathering us today, as we pray that You sanctify our work in the media and that in it, we may find you, our God.
As we write about “statistics and bits of information, may there be pauses in our words to give them house and depth.”
In broadcast, help us to appreciate the “eloquence of silence, for it is in the skill of not speaking that gives the other an opening to what he wants to say.”
In conveying stories in pictures and visuals, may there be vacant, open spaces that cast light and allow stories hidden in the shades and shadows to emerge.
Lord, may we honor the empty moments of pauses, silences and vacant spaces because they make others present to us, and their truths to unfold.
May we see truth in these stories, these traces of life in our society, and may we see BEAUTY, too, a sign that a soul is present.
And finally, dear Lord, may our work make room for the Holy. May our narratives find place in the great story of creation. For Thou, O Lord, are TRUTH and BEAUTY everlasting.
This we ask in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
