It’s in the news again. The idea of reviving Oplan Tokhang as broached by a senator means reviving the Duterte administration’s bloody anti-drug program that is more evil than the evils it aims to crush.
Some immediate past government officials have been busy peddling the said idea like they have achieved something good such as ending the drug menace in the country.
Truth be told, the previous administration’s drug war only achieved the ending of the lives of thousands of small-time drug pushers and drug users, including minors and innocent people as collateral damage.
Authorities have continued its denial of accusations of committing extrajudicial killings, saying most of the suspected drug personalities were killed after they resisted arrest.
The drug problem is still here.
It also remains as rampant, blatant and malignant as before.
Oplan Tokhang was a total failure, and it was a menace itself.
