THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) seized over seven kilos of shabu valued at P50.6 million and four grams of marijuana, resulting in the arrest of 133 drug suspects during a week-long operation.
The police operation in Central Visayas began on May 18, 2025, and concluded on May 24, 2025. During this period, authorities launched 115 anti-criminality operations, which led to the arrest of 259 individuals involved in various criminal activities.
In addition to illegal drugs, PRO 7 also intensified its campaign against loose firearms, confiscating 29 unlicensed guns, two explosives, and 223 assorted ammunition. Eighteen individuals were arrested for possession of these items and have been charged with violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Illegal Possession of Firearms and Explosives Act.
Meanwhile, 76 wanted persons were also apprehended based on warrants of arrest issued by the courts. Among those arrested were 17 individuals identified as most wanted persons in the entire Central Visayas.
This highlights the police’s successful efforts in pursuing and apprehending high-profile fugitives who had long evaded the law.
PRO 7 Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan commended his personnel for their dedication and professionalism, which contributed to the success of their anti-criminality campaign.
“These achievements are the result of relentless efforts and intelligence-driven operations by our men and women in uniform. The safety and security of our communities remain our top priority,” said Maranan.
Maranan added that PRO 7 remains committed to sustaining this momentum, including strengthening community engagement to help rid each area in the region of crime.
The police also encouraged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious individuals observed in their surroundings. (AYB)
