THE Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has seized over P50 million worth of illegal drugs during a five-month intensive anti-drug operation from Jan. 12 to June 8, 2025.
The provincial police conducted 850 anti-illegal drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of 1,221 drug suspects. Authorities confiscated 7,350.945 grams of shabu valued at P49,986,426.
Also seized were 306 grams of dried marijuana leaves and 700 marijuana plants, with a combined street value of P176,720.
Following these operations, the CPPO filed court cases against 1,962 drug suspects, including those who evaded arrest.
CPPO Chief Col. Jovito Atanacio said the seizure of this quantity of illegal drugs and the arrest of those involved demonstrate their sincerity in pursuing drug offenders.
He said many lives would have been wasted if these drugs had reached the streets.
“This is a clear and resounding message to all those who profit from destroying lives through illegal drugs: We will find you, we will stop you, and we will make you accountable,” said Atanacio.
“Every operation we conduct is a step closer to safer communities and a future free from the grip of addiction,” Atanacio added.
According to the CPPO, under Atanacio’s leadership, they were able to strengthen coordination with barangays, intelligence units, and other national government agencies.
The collaboration was aimed to implement targeted and intelligence-driven operations to dismantle drug networks throughout Cebu province.
The CPPO urged the public to support the police campaign by reporting suspicious activities in their respective areas to combat illegal drugs. / AYB
