
AROUND 200 houses and establishments were destroyed in a fire that hit Zone Talong in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City on Sunday night, March 23, 2025.
No casualties were reported, but the blaze left around P3 million worth of damage to properties.
The Mandaue City Fire Station reported that the blaze started in a two-story house owned by Juliet Buscano and rented by Joseph Amistoso Pacaldo.
The fire quickly spread, affecting nearly 6,000 square meters of residential and commercial areas.
The fire was reported at 7:33 p.m. Sunday, with firefighters arriving on the scene within five minutes, said the Mandaue City Fire Station.
The incident was escalated to first alarm at 7:35 p.m., followed by a second alarm at 7:44 p.m., a third alarm at 7:55 p.m., and a fourth alarm at 8:04 p.m.
Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 9:27 p.m., and it was fully extinguished by 10:37 p.m.
A total of five fire trucks and 32 personnel responded to the incident.
The Mandaue City ambulance was also deployed for emergency assistance.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (CAV)
