PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) has canceled several flights to and from the Middle East due to escalating geopolitical tensions in the region, the flag carrier announced on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Affected PAL services include Manila-bound and outbound flights to Doha, Dubai and Riyadh scheduled for June 24 and 25. Specifically, the cancellations cover PR 684 (Manila–Doha), PR 685 (Doha–Manila), PR 658/659 (Manila–Dubai–Manila) and PR 654/655 (Manila–Riyadh–Manila).
PAL advised passengers on the affected flights to avoid proceeding to the airport and instead rebook within 60 days, convert unused tickets to travel credits or request a refund without penalties, excluding the ticketing service charge. Travelers are urged to check real-time updates via PAL’s website or official social media channels.
The cancellations come as the airline takes precautionary measures amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and Iran.
In contrast, budget carrier Cebu Pacific announced that all flights to and from Dubai will continue to operate as scheduled amid the ongoing crisis.
“Our route does not fly over conflict-affected areas in the Middle East, allowing us to operate safely. We continue to actively monitor the situation and will share further updates as necessary,” the airline said Tuesday.
It, however, acknowledged passenger concerns and is offering flexible options such as free rebooking or Travel Fund conversion for June 24 departures. Changes can be made online up to two hours
before departure.
Both carriers said they are closely monitoring developments and will issue updates as needed.
PAL and Cebu Pacific operate regular services to key Middle Eastern destinations to serve the large overseas Filipino workers population in the region, making disruptions in these routes particularly significant for thousands of passengers. / KOC
