TRANSPORTATION Secretary Vince Dizon is exploring the possibility of allowing partial operations for the long-delayed Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) project, a move aimed at bringing the mass transit system into use sooner for commuters.

Dizon, in an interview with the media on Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, said he will discuss the partial operability with officials from Cebu City and Cebu Province.

"Hopefully, we can do partial operability. The delay is too much. Hopefully, it can be used and help commuters," Dizon said.

The CBRT project has faced significant setbacks, pushing back its completion.

Mayor Nestor Archival recently announced intentions to blacklist the current contractor, Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Ltd., due to missed deadlines for Package 1.

The World Bank, a key funder of the project, has also flagged the project's slow progress as "unsatisfactory," raising concerns about funding expiration by 2026.
