THE second nominee of Kabataan Party-list filed a formal complaint before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) 7 over a red-tagging incident on Election Day on Monday, May 12, 2025.
The complaint, filed by Pao Echavez, cites a violation of Comelec Resolution 1116, Section 2, in relation to Section 4, after a mock funeral setup was discovered in front of the old White Gold House on G. Gaisano St., Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
The installation, which reportedly began on Friday, May 9, included a coffin displaying the names and photos of progressive party-list leaders with a message branding them as enemies of the state.
Echavez noted that similar red-tagging incidents were reported in other parts of the country, suggesting a pattern of harassment targeting progressive groups.
He called on Comelec and local authorities to investigate the incident. / CDF
