THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA 7) has reported that no shabu laboratories were found in Cebu City during its monitoring period from April 1 to June 15, 2025.

The information was disclosed during the Second Quarter Cebu City Anti-Drug Abuse Council meeting, according to a Facebook post by the Cebu City Public Information Office..

Investigation Agent Rey Davila, team leader of PDEA 7’s Regional Special Enforcement Team, said most of the shabu found in Cebu City comes from Mindanao and Luzon, particularly the National Capital Region. This assessment is based on intelligence gathered from arrested drug personalities.

PDEA 7’s report also highlighted significant seizures of illegal drugs.

A total of 7,208.36 grams of shabu, 13,000 marijuana plants and 500 seeds, and three ecstasy tablets were confiscated by the agency, the PIO report said.

Davila further explained that these illegal drugs are often transported to Cebu City via small vehicles crossing the ocean and through vehicles utilizing the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) bridge.

In terms of enforcement, PDEA 7 conducted 236 anti-drug operations in Cebu City during the specified period, leading to the arrest of 301 drug personalities. This indicates continued active efforts by law enforcement to combat the illegal drug trade in the metro. / Ashley Judd Alon, UV Intern
