DAVE Peñalosa aims to capture the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Silver lightweight title as he trades leather with Chinese newcomer Weiyi Jiang in the main event of Chao Sy Boxing Promotions’ “Fist of Fury VII: Philippines vs. China” on June 28, 2025, at the Barangay Tinago Gym in Cebu City.
After a two-year hiatus, the 34-year-old Peñalosa decided to revive his once-promising career and made a comeback this year. He beat Vicente Casido twice by unanimous decision.
Peñalosa is a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental featherweight champion after winning the belt in 2019 with a fourth-round technical knockout of Mexican Marcos Cardenas.
He suffered his only career loss that same year, bowing down to Lerato Dlamini by unanimous decision in a World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver featherweight contest.
Jiang, on the other hand, just turned pro in 2023. He scored a fourth-round stoppage of Manot Comput. He followed it up with a split decision victory over Ok Kyu Choi before suffering his first loss by unanimous decision against Nukul Nimmak.
Peñalosa, the son of two-division world champion Dodie Boy Peñalosa, is 19-1 with 12 knockouts, while Jiang is 2-1 with a knockout.
Meanwhile, Vicente Unidos (4-0, 3 KOs) will lock horns with Chinese contender Touhatasen Sailibieke (5-0, 3 KOs) in the co-main feature.
In the undercard, Jefre Jimenez (4-0, 2 KOs) will slug it out with Marlon Alejandro (6-7-2, 1 KO) and Jemuel Aranas (6-2, 3 KOs) will clash with Anthony Gilbuela (8-7-3, 2 KOs).
The show will kick off with a series of amateur bouts. / EKA
