
DAVE Peñalosa continued his impressive return to the ring this year, chalking up another unanimous decision win in a competitive clash Saturday night, June 28, 2025.
The 34-year-old Peñalosa defeated Chinese contender Jiang Weiyi for the World Boxing Foundation Silver lightweight title in the main event of Chao Sy Boxing Promotions’ “Fist of Fury: Philippines vs. China” at the Barangay Tinago Gym in Cebu City.
Peñalosa had his hand raised after eight rounds of action, with all three judges scoring the fight identically at 77-75 in his favor.
This marked Peñalosa’s third straight win since returning from a two-year layoff. He now holds a record of 20 wins, one loss, with 12 knockouts. Jiang, meanwhile, dropped to 2-2 with one knockout.
In the main supporting bout, Chinese fighter Tuohatasen Sailibieke handed Vicente Unidos his first career defeat by walking away with a close split decision.
Sailibieke knocked Unidos down in the second round. Unidos was also deducted a point for a series of low blows. Sailibieke was also penalized in the eighth round for hitting Unidos on the back of his head.
Two judges scored the bout 75-74 for Sailibieke, while the other judge saw the fight differently and gave it to Unidos, 76-73.
Unidos fell to 4-1 with three knockouts, while Sailibieke remained undefeated at 6-0 with three knockouts.
In the undercard, Jefre Jimenez (5-0, 2 KOs) won the Philippine Boxing Federation light-flyweight belt with a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Alejandro (6-8-2, 1 KO), while Jemuel Aranas (7-2, 4 KOs) defeated Anthony Gilbeula (8-8-3, 2 KOs) via a controversial fifth-round stoppage. / EKA
