ENHANCED measures to attract investors resulted in a 59.1 percent increase in investments approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) in the first half of 2025 to P72.36 billion.

Peza data released Wednesday, July 2, 2025, showed that approved investments in the same period in 2024 amounted to PHP45.48 billion.

It traced this achievement to a “proactive stance in facilitating ease of doing business, improving investor confidence, and aligning investment strategies with the Marcos Jr. administration’s socio-economic goals.”

The approved investments in the first six months this year involve 133 projects, higher than the 120 in the same period last year, mostly from South Korea, the US, China, Germany, and Japan.

These projects, eight of which are big-ticket items, are primarily for food and beverage products manufacturing, economic zone development, and Information Technology - Business Process Management.

These projects are, in turn, expected to generate about 32,983 direct jobs, up from the 25,259 jobs projected in end-June 2024.

Export revenues from the approved investments as of June are estimated to amount to about US$161.43 million, Peza data showed.

“We are reaping the fruits of our aggressive promotion efforts, investor-centric reforms, and continued commitment to making the Philippines a competitive and resilient hub for global industries. The confidence shown by both new and existing investors is a strong signal that our ecozones are thriving and open for business,” Peza Director General Tereso Panga said.

“The Philippines is surely in a sweet spot to attract FDIs at this time and surely, Filipinos and the whole country will reap the results of our combined hard work soon. PEZA is making headway in its mission to contribute to national economic recovery and inclusive development.” / PNA
