

IT WAS a tough night for the Philippines as four Filipino boxers suffered defeats in Japan on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi.
Giemel Magramo, Michael Dasmariñas, Jeo Santisima, and Yeroge Gura all lost to their respective opponents in the same boxing event.
Magramo relinquished his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super-flyweight title after a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Aoi Yokoyama.
All three judges had the 23-year-old former Japanese amateur champion Yokohama ahead with scores of 117-111, 118-110, and 117-111.
Magramo fell to 30-5 with 23 knockouts, while Yokoyama improved to 3-0 with a knockout.
Dasmariñas (36-4-2, 25 KOs), in another match, suffered a fifth-round technical knockout at the hands of Kyosuke Okamoto (10-1, 7 KOs), who ended the fight at the 1:18 mark of the round.
Santisima (25-8, 21 KOs) also lost by unanimous decision to Ei Go (5-0, 2 KOs) with the three judges scoring the bout 79-73, 79-73, and 77-75 in favor of Go.
Lastly, Gura (8-2-1, 3 KOs) lost to Hayate Hanada (3-1-1, 1 KO) by unanimous decision.
Hanada was up ahead in all three judges’ scorecards with scores of 79-73, 78-74, and 77-75. / EKA
