THE Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) has warned the public about fraudulent messages falsely using the name of its president and chief executive officer Edwin Mercado.
In a news release Monday, Philhealth said the scam claims that Mercado is requesting individuals to deposit money on his behalf.
The message alleges that Mercado is in a crucial meeting and will reimburse the amount afterward. It included the following details: GCash number: 09384354071; Name: Mieel Briin Liin; Viber name: PCEO Mercado Edwin M; and Viber number: 09618296586.
Mercado has not made any such request, the state insurer said.
It advised the public not to engage with the sender or send money. / PNA
