THE Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7) has coordinated with the Muslim and Jewish communities living in Metro Cebu to maintain order on both sides amid the conflict between the Palestinian group Hamas and Israel.

In order to prevent what happened in Australia and America, where tensions arose due to protests that were held there in response to the war that broke out between Israel and Hamas, PRO 7 Director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin visited the Jewish community in Cebu to assess if there is a need to provide security to its leaders, PRO 7 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare said.

"I would like to tell you that there are police escorts being given or being deployed in some communities just to make sure nga naa tay proactive interventions towards this, but I would like to emphasize nga wala tay na monitor nga any type of information that would suggest nga naay escalation diri sa atong lugar," Pelare said.

But Pelare said the Jewish community in Cebu is safe.

He said they are also cooperating with the Muslim community.

He added that they do not have any problem with the Muslim brothers because they always support the government’s efforts to establish peace in Cebu City and the rest of Cebu province. (AYB/TPT)
