THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 seized over half a billion pesos worth of illegal drugs during anti-narcotics operations conducted from January to June 2025, resulting in the arrest of nearly 5,000 drug personalities.
Over the six-month period, police across Central Visayas conducted 4,101 anti-illegal drug operations, leading to the apprehension of 238 high-value targets, 2,522 street-level individuals and 1,973 newly identified drug personalities.
Data from PRO 7 showed authorities confiscated 76,120.35 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P517,618,380. Other seized items included marijuana plants worth P3,038,814.40, 250 grams of cocaine valued at P1,325,000 and 60 Ecstasy tablets worth P102,000.
Relentless campaign
PRO 7 Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan credited the results to effective strategies and the relentless campaign under PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III’s national program.
“We will not let up. Every gram of shabu taken off the streets, every pusher and trafficker arrested, is a victory for every community in Central Visayas. Our men and women in uniform have risked their lives to protect our people and these results reflect their dedication, professionalism and unyielding resolve to make our region safer,” Maranan said.
He affirmed the region’s full support for the PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
Maranan also emphasized that the fight against illegal drugs is not solely the responsibility of the police but a shared duty that requires the involvement of all sectors of society.
“We call on the public to continue supporting our campaign by reporting drug-related activities and working hand in hand with us to create a drug-free Central Visayas,” Maranan added.
The general assured that the campaign’s momentum will continue through the second half of 2025. He also highlighted plans to strengthen coordination with National Government agencies, local government units, barangay officials and civil society groups to further suppress the supply of illegal drugs across the region. / AYB
