A 12-DAY anti-criminality and law enforcement operation by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 leading up to the May 12, 2025 elections resulted in the seizure of P50.1 million worth of illegal drugs.

The police in Central Visayas conducted a series of Special Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (Sacleo) from April 30 to May 12 to ensure peaceful and orderly midterm elections.

Data from PRO 7 showed that its Sacleo netted 8,848.19 grams of suspected shabu, with a standard drug price of P50,167,692.00, and seven grams of marijuana were confiscated.

The 204 anti-illegal drug operations conducted led to the arrest of 251 suspects.

In addition to illegal drugs, the PRO 7 apprehended 160 wanted persons, 23 of whom were identified as wanted individuals in the region.

The campaign against loose firearms also resulted in the seizure of 75 unlicensed firearms of various calibers, one grenade and 208 rounds of ammunition.

Through intensified checkpoint operations, patrol deployments and intelligence-based interventions, the police aimed to prevent potential election-related incidents and other threats.

Police reported that order and peace were successfully maintained throughout the election period, with no major election-related incidents recorded in Central Visayas.

PRO 7 Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan attributed the successful campaign to effective implementation of the security plan.

Maranan assured that anti-criminality operations would continue beyond the election period. / AYB
