THE investigation into the deaths of a pregnant woman and her unborn child is complete, but the findings are not conclusive as the report from Cebu South Medical Center (CSMC), where the two died, is still pending.
More than three weeks after the incident, the family of Airish Comaling, the woman who died, still waits for justice.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, in an interview with reporters on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, refused to disclose initial details, but assured she will report the final findings in September.
Comaling’s brother-in-law, Kiking Blues, who first posted about the incident in July, wrote on Facebook about their hope for justice.
“Mayta matagaan na hustisya tawn, pwerti gyud sakita sa among part, labi na sa akong igsuon,” reads a part of his post.
(I hope justice will be served. It is so painful for us, especially for my brother.)
Baricuatro previously said she is inclined to suspend any official or hospital personnel found liable in the deaths of Comaling and her unborn child.
When asked if any suspensions had been made, Baricuatro said not yet.
“Not yet (suspension) because we are still waiting for the result from Talisay (Cebu South Medical Center),” said Baricuatro.
Baricuatro said the Capitol’s part of the probe is done.
“But I assure you that there will be movement next month, right now we are focused on our medical mission for every weekend,” she said.
On July 22, Comaling and her unborn child died after allegedly being denied timely medical care at the Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Carcar City.
Comaling was first brought to a hospital in Argao before she was referred to CPH.
She was then referred to CSMC in Talisay City, where both she and her baby died. / CDF
