PUBLIC utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators in Lapu-Lapu City have complained against an alleged overcharging of fees at the Pajo Terminal.

From an ordinance that set the charge at five pesos, PUV drivers and operators claim the terminal fee has gone up to P20.

Outgoing mayor and Congressman-elect  Junard “Ahong” Chan met the PUV drivers and operators on Friday, June 27, 2025, to address their concerns regarding the terminal fee and other operational issues.

The meeting was held after a video went viral showing PUV drivers accusing terminal personnel for overcharging.

During the meeting, the dialogue was focused on the PUV drivers’ concern over the P20 terminal fee being collected, which is way higher than what is reportedly written under a 2004 ordinance that set the rate at five pesos.

The drivers also brought up the fee being collected for the use of the comfort room in the terminal which is P5 for urination and P20 for defecation. They are pushing to scrap the fees.

Chan assured the drivers that he will conduct an investigation into the matter.

He also called for open communication between the terminal operators, city officials, and drivers to prevent further disputes and improve the management of the public terminals.

Another meeting is scheduled on Monday, June 30, to address other concerns. / Yvon Maratas, Benedicto College Intern
